TO ALL THE
WOMEN IN
ENGINEERING

HERE’S 4 THINGS
YOU SHOULD NOT
BE INTIMIDATED BY

Don’t be intimidated by:
Non-immigrants

Just because someone graduated from a local university or was born into a family that immigrated years ago doesn’t make them better. If you’re an immigrant give yourself time to adapt. It’s a new culture, new language, or maybe even a completely new lifestyle. And here’s a reminder to the non-immigrants to help others
and be patient.

Don’t be intimidated by:
The number of men

You may be out numbered by men (I’m sorry we’re working on it). But incase you see that you’re the only female in a situation, don’t be intimidated. Think of all the other women who are at work RIGHT NOW. They may not be in the same room as you, but they’re doing what you’re doing. If it helps, pretend like all the men
have wigs.

Don’t be intimidated by:
Men’s tone

Yes we all know. Most of the time men have a deeper tone. Sometimes they raise their voice. Sometimes they’re very dry and don’t use exclamation marks in their e-mails. Do NOT be intimidated by this. Your voice may have a higher pitch but what you have to say is JUST as important.

Don’t be intimidated by:
Other people’s experience

It can be so intimidating to start your career journey and see all these people who know more than you. Learn from them. Don’t be intimidated. They also didn’t know anything at the start of their career.
