5 SKILLS THAT
ARE EXTREMELY
USEFUL IN ENGINEERING
Communication
This. This right here is without a doubt the most important skill you need. No matter how good you are at what you do, if you’re not a good communicator, you won’t get the message across correctly. This has nothing to do with being an introvert or extrovert. Communication can be learned and it’s a skills companies
value highly.
Being a good salesperson
You don’t have to work in sales to need this skill. Being able to sell your ideas to someone is a skill. Selling your value and skills in an interview is a skill. A strong elevator pitch can get you far. The better you are at selling your ideas, the more people you can add to your network.
Creativity
Engineering is problem solving. A lot of times you need to think outside the box to make something work. It’s not always about numbers and theory. It’s actually a great skill to develop alongside the technical work.
Team work
No matter how smart you are, no matter how creative you are, engineering is done in teams. Any real life project has a group of people working on it to make it work. The earlier you learn this skills, the smoother your projects will run.
